Dr. Conrad Murray had to endure shouts of "murderer" from angry fans of Michael Jackson yesterday, as well as the saddened Jackson family members when he turned himself in for a court appearance. For this high profile Los Angeles medical doctor, it's been a terrible fall from grace to be charged in connection with the accidental death of the musical legend.
According to reports, Dr. Murray administered the drug Propoful only hours before Michael Jackson passed away. And damning toxicology reports eventually led to the charge of involuntary manslaughter for the well respected doctor. Now it will be the job of defense lawyers to keep the doctor from going to prison for up to four years.

I consider Jackson's fans to be a bunch of hypocrites. Michael Jackson took these sorts of drugs for years and they never comment on that. I consider it a pretty sure bet that a man in Jackson's position with his money and his influence was a formidable force in pursing what he wanted including assistance from a doctor who may be able to assert in court that, having noted Jackson's condition and knowing that he would just keep pushing until he got what he wanted or worse, self medicated, decided that the best course was to have a doctor involved.
Didn't work out so good, but all the facts have not been made public about Michael's overall health and other drug use. Perhaps the fans might quiet down and consider that it was Michael, making his own choices, who was taking the drugs. No one chased him down the street and into his home to force them on him.

The use of propofol is an anesthetic agent that has no appropriate use outside of an operating suite [except perhaps in battlefront care], requires the use of continuous oximetry monitoring during use, and is not indicated for the treatment of pain.
Paul, this "doctor" was a shill who overstepped his bounds for money, fame or glory. He deserves to be stripped of his license and whether he goes to jail or not is the least of his worries. Using the excuse that an addict will just get the medicine on the street does not protect a prescriber from Federal prosecution for improper prescription of controlled substances.
