Erik Gates, a rocketry expert who had appeared on the popular Discovery Channel program, MYTHBUSTERS, has died as a result of a freak accident. He was 47. Gates was working on a rooftop skylight which gave way, and fell 30 feet suffering serious blunt force chest injuries.
Gates was able to communicate after the fall, however as the trauma from the injuries worsened, he lost his life despite the best emergency efforts at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California.
Gates was the owner of Gateco Electric Company and the father of three children.
