
- Twitter is developing the first TV series that incorporates it's micro-blogging service into the action of the show. Created by novelist Amy Ephron, sister of Nora and Delia Ephron, the untitled show will feature ordinary people competing while on the trail of celebrities. None of which makes sense to me.
- The coveted Palme d'Or prize at this years Cannes Film Festival went to Das Weisse Band (The White Ribbon), a chilling story about rural Germany in the buildup to World War I, beating 19 others for the prize.
- The message boards are blazing with the news "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" will be hitting the big screen, once again. But the real drama is about how Joss Whedon wont be attached. And as someone who saw the first Buffy movie I can tell you... it really shouldn't matter.
- Al Pacino is in negotiations to star in "You Don't Know Jack," a movie about convicted murderer Jack Kevorkian, the infamous advocate of doctor-assisted suicide. Kevorkian, 81, also known as Dr. Death, assisted in more than 150 cases of suicide.
- Roadside Attractions has acquired all U.S. rights to Mitchell Lichtenstein's family comedy, "Happy Tears", with an all star cast including Parker Posey, Demi Moore, Ellen Barkin and Rip Torn. Two sisters, Jayne (Posey) and Laura (Moore), return home to deal with their ailing father Joe (Torn), only to face some surprising situations.
- Lyndsy Fonseca ("Big Love") has booked a part in United Artists' time-travel comedy "Hot Tub Time Machine," now shooting in Vancouver. Fonseca will play Jenny, the girlfriend that slipped away from John Cusack's character in 1987 whom he revisits when he and some friends accidentally travel back in time via their Jacuzzi.
- Bravo is developing a fifth edition of its "Real Housewives" series, to be set in Washington, D.C., and has begun scouring the area for candidates. No specific timetable for bringing the show to air has been announced.

Monday night's fifth season premiere of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" was seen by a record 9.8 million viewers -- twice as many viewers as the show's previous series high.The premiere episode marked TLC's highest ratings ever among adults (6.3 rating) and women 18-34 (9.1).
"Jon & Kate" was also higher rated than any show on broadcast last night.
