RM Auctions and Sotheby's are teaming up for a spring auction that should be one for the record books: A 1957 Ferrari 250 "pontoon-fendered" Testa Rossa once owned by racing driver Piero Drogo, one of only 22 built, will go on the block on May 17 in Maranello, Italy. The sale will take part during the festivities surrounding the Mille Miglia classic-car rally.
The auction, which is the third annual Leggenda e Passione event, will see a number of classic Ferraris up for auction. The Testa Rossa, with chassis no. 0714TR, will be the star, "the most significant and desirable Ferrari to be offered on the world's auction stage," in the words of RM Auctions. A TON of photos over at Luxist.
