The last of the quarters in a 10-year series commemorating the 50 states was minted in Denver yesterday and the featured state is Hawaii.
Hawaii's coin features King Kamehameha I stretching a hand toward the eight major Hawaiian Islands. Inscribed is the state motto, "The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness," in Hawaiian. It will go into circulation Nov. 3, and a ceremony marking the release will be held at Bishop Square in Honolulu on Nov. 10, said U.S. Mint spokesman Greg Hernandez.

The image of Kamehameha the Great is from the statue(s) of King Kemehameha. One (a copy) stands in front of the State Supreme Court in Honolulu, and another (the original, which sank during delivery, but was recovered after the copy had been erected--yeah, it's confusing) stands on the island of Hawai'i.
