The news has been confirmed. "V," the 1980s miniseries about alien lizards visiting Earth, will invade primetime once again, reports Variety.
ABC is developing a new adaptation of the franchise -- which spawned a second mini and TV spinoff -- written by "The 4400" co-creator/exec producer Scott Peters. Warner Bros. TV, which was behind the original longform, is once again producing.
"Whenever I mention 'V' to anybody, they still have a lot of good memories about the original movie and series," Peters said. "Everybody has that imagery of their uniforms, or the visitor eating a hamster. It's a science fiction icon and too good to pass up."
The original "V" served as an allegory for the Holocaust and Nazi Germany. Peters said he won't duplicate that concept, except that the new "V" will still focus on what happens when the masses have blind faith in their leaders.

Holy Crap! My irony alert meter just busted with the words "blind faith".
You mean, Mr Studio Person, like the unquestioning, unswerving loyalty you have to the Church of Gaia and its Pope Al Gore? You mean the questionless existence you manifest around Kos/MoveOn talking about about the Obama?
Nope...I bet it won't

I hope they keep it serious. I love the original v miniseries and am a fan of the rest... It was my favorite show when I was little! I'm glad they are not making the new book into a series. the new book was... well, I'm glad it was published for nastalgia purposes but it compltely lost the spirit of the story. Anyway, I'm looking foward to it!

This is gonna be AWESOME! I'm a huge fan of the original series, and I definitely think that this is in VERY good hands. I read that Jace Hall is actually on of the producers on the project, which is great because he's the guy who founded Monolith Games (they made F.E.A.R, Condemned, TRON 2.0) so he knows what he's doing when it comes to storytelling and creating atmosphere. I actually found a show he has online that's just called The Jace Hall Show, and it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I CAN'T WAIT! Go JACE!
