- Universal Pictures has made a splashy preemptive buy of "Moby Dick," a reimagining of the Herman Melville whale tale that Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted") will direct. Adam Cooper and Bill Collage will pen. "This is an opportunity to take a timeless classic and capitalize on the advances in visual effects to tell what at its core is an action-adventure revenge story."
- Camilla Belle and Kieran Culkin will star in Bruce Willis's directorial debut "Three Stories About Joan". Owen Wilson is rumored to have a role as well. The film, which Willis will have a supporting role in, centers on a young woman at three points in her life and the family tragedies that cause her to lose her grip on reality.
- Angelina Jolie has now officially signed onto Phil Noyce's "Edwin A. Salt." The fictional film centers on a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy. She eludes capture by superiors who are convinced she is out to assassinate the president.
- Taking on his first role in a live-action studio picture since 2002's "Analyze That," Billy Crystal will join the cast of "Tooth Fairy." Dwayne Johnson stars with Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews, Stephen Merchant and Ryan Sheckler. Johnson plays a minor league hockey player known for loosening dental work with physical play and is sentenced to serve as the real Tooth Fairy for a week.
- A digitally restored edition of "The Godfather - The Coppola Restoration Giftset" is now available on Blu-ray. New York Times Dave Kehr has nothing but praise for the newly restored "miraculously rejuvenated" versions of all three films.
