In a discussion about the James Dobson attacks on Obama, Anderson Cooper hosted Al Sharpton and the president of the homophobic Family Research Council. As they debated the issue of religious tolerance, the conversation took a turn when Sharpton pointed out that Anderson may land in Hell for his behavior, whatever that might be...
Says Sharpton: "I may have some very conservative personal feelings but I feel you have the right to live your life differently. I may think that what you do Anderson is gonna put you in Hell, but I'm gonna defend your right to get there."
Answered Anderson: "I appreciate all your concerns about my afterlife. I'm personally not all that concerned, but that's a whole other discussion."

What can I say, both Dobson... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Paul Hooson | June 25, 2008 5:46 PM | Score: -4 (4 votes cast)
What can I say, both Dobson and Sharpton are two self-important and self-righteous religious wackos who use God for profit and to justify their own screwball platforms. Maybe there's even a little hell for rotten preachers who use God for profit like this, and if not, then they're both just major league uncool.
Another issue here, is that Anderson Cooper has faced some rumors that he is Gay from independent media sources, but regardless of whatever his personal lifestyle is, Anderson Cooper is a very good journalist and I like him, and I hope Sharpton wasn't making reference to any of this. If so, then I consider it very outrageous for Sharpton to do so. Sharpton has raised a terrible ruckus about Don Imus and others on racial issues, but I hope doesn't attack others based on their lifestyle or rumors about their lifestyle. But that's Sharpton for you.
