The High School Musical star underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, E! News has confirmed.

"He had his appendix removed and is recuperating," Efron's rep said.

In other Zac news... The HSM star defends himself from rumors that he's gay saying, "I know it's very addictive to read that kind of stuff. (perezhilton) It's entertainment. Efron also says he has no intention of jeopardizing his promising movie career.
