Yesterday, on Whoopi's first day as official cochair on The View, the outspoken 'comedian' defended the actions of dog killer Michael Vick saying "He's from the South, from the Deep South ... This is part of his cultural upbringing."
"For a lot of people, dogs are sport," Goldberg said on the show. "Instead of just saying (Vick) is a beast and he's a monster, this is a kid who comes from a culture where this is not questioned."
Veteran "View" co-host Joy Behar took immediate issue with Goldberg. "What part of the country is this? ... How about dog torturing and dog murdering?" she asked.
Wayne Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States, later told Reuters "To suggest that there is some ethnic group or racial group or regional group that finds this acceptable is just not accurate." He noted that dogfighting is outlawed in all 50 states, and a felony in all but two -- Idaho and Wyoming.

Whoopi's comment about Michael Vick is very disturbing. For some people, it's normal to have sex with your children - maybe she'll defend that too. Dog fighting is not a southern or a black thing historically. It was common with British nobilitly and poor Welsh coal miners - not that this makes it ok - it had been common entertainment and a source of revenue back before there was TV. It still unfortunately,is practiced for the same reasons.
Pitbull terriers are the most exploited and abused breed of dogs in the world. Maybe Whoopi could defend them and all other animals that are abused in many ways. I remember her in "The Color Purple" - perhaps she just condones behavior that persecutes beings that are considered less worthy than others (like African slaves, women, etc.) Shame on you Whoopi and others that support abuse and torture of others (including helpless animals)! How does someone that stupid get where they are. Some research should have been done before she hands out excuses for a animal killer. you give people allot of money and they think they are above the law. Everyone in this country has an opinion can't you show people get someone that has some selfworth. She should be fired from the show I will never watch again! Both Rosie and Whoopi are idiots in my book.

Why ABC should fire Whoopi immediately !!! It seems everyone has conveniently forgotten that several years ago Whoopi Goldberg totally TRASHED the National Anthem on an HBO special by inserting profanities (like M_____F____) nearly every other word throughout the song. In my opinion, this was a million times more offensive than what Don Imus did. ABC needs look into this and after reviewing the HBO Special for themselves, they need to immediately fire Whoopi from her new position on The View. Honestly, I don't think ABC has enough courage to do so.
