Britney Spears' impulsiveness isn't confined to head-shaving and taking impromptu dips in the sea in her underwear - it also extends to house hunting.

The singer was so impressed with Ray Liotta's Pacific Palisades mansion that she snapped it up after a whirlwind 40-minute viewing.

Britney made sure that the house met her stringent requirements - by taking a dip in the pool with her sons, having a bath and testing all the toilets - before dropping 6.5 million on the Goodfellas star's Mediterranean-style home.

Liotta designed and built the five-bedroom, eight-bathroom spread himself but put it on the market after upsetting his neighbours by crashing into their parked cars.
