The BBC has revealed that it is looking into the possibility of turning Ricky Gervais' hit comedy series 'The Office' into a film.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the BBC is also considering film spin-offs of 'Little Britain' and Gervais' other series, 'Extras'.

The announcement follows the decision for BBC Films to collaborate with the broadcaster's comedy department with a view to increasing the BBC's comedy projects.

Other new feature films will also be developed as part of the collaboration.
