Mel Brooks Son Shares About Dad

Sweet little ditty from Page Six:

FOR all the money he's made taking potshots at Hitler, few realize that Mel Brooks spent quite a bit of time getting shot at by the Nazis during World War II. It was that experience of moving from hedgerow to hedgerow avoiding snipers that has kept Brooks together since the death of his beloved wife, Anne Bancroft, last year. So writes the couple's son, Max, exclusively for MensHealth.com. "In the months after my mom passed," the younger Brooks writes, "I stayed with him a lot . . . from the day the oncologist told her, 'Your scan came back, and two points lit up,' to the moment she stopped breathing in that bed in Mount Sinai. 'What am I going to do?' my father would ask, sad, anxious, sometimes angry. All I could say was, 'One hedgerow to the next, Dad.' "
