Warning to fans of the following programs:
- Grey's Anatomy
- Prison Break
- 24
- Deal or No Deal
- The Apprentice
- King of Queens
- How I Met Your Mother
- Two and a Half Men
- The New Adventures of Old Christine
- CSI Miami
The President will be speaking tomorrow night (Monday 5/15) at 8:00pm Eastern on the topic of immigration legislation. This will cause several shows to most likely be offset by 15 to 30 minutes. This is of special concern to fans of Grey's Anatomy, who are waiting for a two-hour season finale.
Add an extra hour to your VCRs. Double-check your TiVos. Do whatever you have to do to negate the effects of a presidential speech on a hot-button topic. But don't miss your shows just because the president's press corps decided to have him get up in front of a microphone and talk about the issues.
This is why people hate politics. Not because it's boring, or because they feel ineffectual. It's because the president -- the very embodiment of our political system -- always messes up our favorite prime-time shows by giving speeches at 8:00pm, making us miss stuff we really care about for stuff that would be just as important if the speech was at, say, 7:00pm, during the syndicated hour.
I guess the Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy voting bloc is more influential than the prime-time voters.
Josh Cohen of Multiple Mentality is probably going to forget to reset his VCR, so if you were planning on taping the Grey's Anatomy finale, keep that tape. He might need it.
