Legislation that will block children from accessing MySpace.com while in school is currently in review. To which I say, 'suck it up.' You're in school. Besides, its supposed to be really dangerous. Although I wouldn't know. With headlines like the one Drudge currently has posted (27yo man poses as 16yo girl to lure a 14yo boy into sex on Myspace) containing so much math I wasn't halfway through before I stopped caring if everyone even made it out alive. Still, it's an excuse to talk about congress on the playground.
"Sites like MySpace and Facebook have opened the door to a new online community of social networks between friends, students and colleagues," Fitzpatrick said. "However, this new technology has become a feeding ground for child predators that use these sites as just another way to do our children harm."Specifically, it would require schools and libraries to implement security systems to prevent students from being exposed to obscene and objectionable material, according to Fitzpatrick.
It would strengthen existing Web-surfing filters for indecency or obscenity.
Moreover, it also mandates that a Web site be created by the Federal Trade Commission to educate adults about the dangers of such online child predators and at the same time provide information on how social-networking sites are used and what should not be included in a user's profile.

Given the number of abductions and murders traced directly back to myspace? I think it is time for action. I would love myspace more if they made it an adult site, where you at least have to have one of those Cyber IDs to prove your age or something.
